Medical Director — Michael D. Graubert, M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

A native of South Florida, Dr. Michael D. Graubert returned home after years of advanced study at Harvard and other top institutions to found the Palmetto Fertility Center.

Dr. Graubert is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology. As an Obstetrician-Gynecologist, Dr. Graubert completed a subspecialty fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School and Boston IVF (one of the premier fertility centers in the world).

Dr. Michael Graubert received both his undergraduate and medical degrees from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Graubert's research contributions in the area of blood vessel development in the endometrium have been nationally recognized by the Society for Gynecologic Investigation.

Dr. Graubert is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and is a member of the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, the Society for Assisted Reproduction, the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, and the Florida Society of Reproductive Endocrinology.

Rafael A. Cabrera M.D., F.A.C.O.G.

A native of Puerto Rico, Dr. Rafael A. Cabrera joins our team with many years of experience in reproductive medicine. Prior to joining Palmetto Fertility Center, Dr. Cabrera was Medical Director of Houston IVF, and served as Acting Director of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at The Walter Reed Medical Center in Washington, D.C. Dr. Cabrera has over thirteen years of experience in instruction, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.

Dr. Cabrera received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Puerto Rico. He completed his internship at the Naval Hospital in Oakland, CA and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. He was a practicing Obstetrician and Gynecologist for five years before pursuing subspecialty fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the prestigious Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine in Norfolk, VA.

Dr. Cabrera is board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, and in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and is a member of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the European Society of Human Reproductive and Embryology. Dr. Cabrera has done research and published articles on the expression of prostaglandins by the monkey ovarian surface epithelium, the effect of suppressed follicular phase LH serum levels in assisted reproduction, ovarian reserve, and the impact of ovarian endometriomas in the outcome of IVF cycles.

Nursing Staff

Nurse Coordinator — Suzanne Jewell, R.N.

A South Florida native, Suzanne L. Jewell, R.N. has been a member of the Palmetto Fertility Center family since 1999 and has more than 15 years of nursing experience. Suzie is fluent in Spanish, and her caring approach to the special needs of fertility patients has earned her legions of fans all over our local community, the United States, and Latin America.

Laboratory Staff

Embryology Laboratory Director — Sylvie Roberge, Ph.D., HCLD (ABB)

Certified by American Board of Bioanalysts as a High Complexity Lab Director (HCLD), Sylvie Roberge is the director of the Embryology Laboratory at Palmetto Fertility Center. Sylvie has been involved in Reproductive Physiology for more than two decades and has achieved the highest levels of certification for human embryology. Fluent in French, Sylvie is a native of Canada and received her undergraduate degree in Biology, and her Master's degree in Reproductive Physiology at the University of Montreal. She received her Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology at Washington State University.

Sylvie is an expert in all facets of human in vitro fertilization (IVF), including blastocyst culture, embryo freezing, laser-assisted hatching, and PGD (pre-implantation genetic diagnosis), and has performed thousands of IVF cases. She is certified as a High-Complexity Laboratory Director (HCLD) by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB), and is a licensed Clinical Laboratory Director in the state of Florida.

Andrologist — Walter Randelli, MLT

After receiving his degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Walter has been working as a laboratory technician for over 13 years. He joined the Palmetto team in 2004. We are fortunate to have his expertise in our Andrology and Endocrine laboratories. Walter is fluent in Spanish and Italian.
